Essity and United Nation’s entity Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC) launch the sixth edition of the Hygiene and Health Report. Hygiene and health are critical catalysts for solving several global societal issues stated in the UN Sustainable Development Goals. With this report, Essity and WSSCC address opportunities and challenges throughout the human life cycle, highlighting new research, best practices and possible solutions. The 2018 edition of Interclean Amsterdam has been the largest, most international exhibition yet, made up of busy days. The show attracted a record number of visitors, from more countries than ever before. With a combination of old and new segments, Interclean Amsterdam was able to offer a complete overview of the newest technologies and trends in the professional cleaning market. The robot arena, the InnovationLAB and the new Healthcare Cleaning Forum and LAB were particularly popular. During Interclean Amsterdam 2018, visitors were able to enjoy countless activities on exhibitor stands. This included a folklore performance, a basketball court, and virtual reality demonstrations – all of which enhanced the exhibition experience. More visitors than ever spent three days on the show floor, resulting in a vibrant and lively atmosphere.

Interclean Amsterdam, the world’s leading tradeshow for cleaning professionals, started today with the announcement of the winner of the Amsterdam Innovation Award. The overall winner – out of a total of 89 entries – of the Amsterdam Innovation Award 2018 is: KIRA B50 from Kärcher. This first autonomous cleaning machines presents the whole package; a step forward in robotics technology for the cleaning industry and overcomes some of the obstacles of similar machines. Size and design is what make this machine much more attractive to a wider range of applications. So far, robotic scrubber dryers have been most suitable for extremely large areas, but the KIRA B50 is even suitable for areas under 1,000 square metres.

Diversey and Zenith Hygiene Group plc have announced the completion of the transaction by Bain Capital Private Equity which will combine the two companies. The merger, which will create the UK and Ireland’s largest manufacturer and supplier of cleaning and hygiene products, was completed following customary anti-trust clearance by the Competitions and Markets Authority on 19 March 2018. The combined group will create a £170m company with approximately 1,000 employees nationally. Zenith Hygiene Group CEO and founder, Ringo Francis, will lead the combined group in the UK and Ireland, reporting to Diversey Europe’s President, Gaetano Redaelli.
